Joanne Hummel-Newell was born in 1982 and studied at Kingston University and the Royal College of Art in London. Her work, in her own words, is driven by the instantaneous and forever changing concerns of consciousness and is an explosion of colour and bold shapes. She is intrigued by patterns in human behavior and endeavors to represent human emotion in an honest and emotive way.
Joanne has exhibited in several solo and group exhibitions and has received several Arts Council England Grants for her installations and projects. She is also a director of Foal Arts, an initiative which supports emerging artists on the Isle of Wight.
