David Blackburn was born in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire in 1939 and dispite long spells as a visiting lecturer, artist and professor in both Australia and America, he kept returning to his Yorkshire roots.
His work is internationally acclaimed and represented in collections such as the Museum of Modern Art, New York. An international circle of collectors often compete amongst themselves to acquire his pastels.
One Critic described Davids work as 'uniquely his own and of such haunting beauty and spirituality that it has to be viewed as a major accomplishment on the international art scene.'
David was awarded an MBE in the 2015 Honours List
