Contemporary Ceramics from New & Emerging Talent
Functional. Sculptural. British. Irish. New....
This short, 'pop-up' exhibition features new talent from recent graduates of the Irish Design Council's Ceramic Skills Course, alongside work from homegrown skilled creative Zoe Catherine Kendall. Makers, Katrin Maier, Francis Lloyd-Jones & Louise Robinson will be bringing their skills fresh from Thomastown, County Kilkenny, to York and joining locally-based Zoe Catherine Kendall, writer, painter, ceramicist and relative of Ceramic-Hall-of-Fame's Bernard Leach.
This selection of brilliant makers approaches their work from a unique angle, offering an interesting selection of sculptural work, functional pieces and items which could be either.
#CeramicArt has been organised as part of the Ceramics + Design Now Festival and runs in conjunction with the York Ceramics Fair at the Hospitium, Museum Gardens, York. It also offers the perfect opportunity to view the amazing Last Leaf Take Over which closes on Sunday 7 October. Sam Parkin, of Last Leaf Furniture has been in residence in the Gallery for the last month. His work and passion for the craft has resulted in many sales and commissions and this is definitely a brilliant chance to catch him before he moves out of the Gallery again.
