Becky Mackenzie | Small Bowl
Artist: Becky Mckenzie
Hand made delicate bone china bowl.
Available in: Palest Pink, Indigo Blue, Pale Yellow, Fern Green and Cream
This body of work by Becky Mackenzie was created specifically for Bloom! York 2018, celebrating York's Horticultural history.
The illustrations feature plants that thrive in post-industrial landscapes. These habitats exist in the North of England as a result of the rise and fall of heavy industry and mining, but are now themselves under threat. The work references environmental fragility, resilience and transcience; the qualities inherent in the very fine clay body of the work itself.
Becky Mackenzie is a designer-maker working predominantly with bone china and earthenware. Now based in the North East, Becky Mackenzie graduated with a first class degree in Ceramics from Central Saint Martins and has an MA in Fine Art Conservation. Her current work is concerned with materials and process and exploring the boundaries of functionality.
